In The Love of the Nightingale, Timberlake Wertenbaker retells the ancient Greek myth of the rape of Philomena and how she and her sister Procne take revenge. Wertenbaker reinterprets this myth through a feminist lens, demonstrating the reality of rape culture in a play that remains relevant today.
