Waterwell tells engrossing stories in unexpected ways that deliberately wrestle with complex civic questions.
Everything we do is infused with our love of live performance, though productions take on different forms and manifest in different mediums depending on the needs and inspiration for each particular piece.
For each project, we develop relationships with partners - organizations and individuals - who have direct connections to the stories we are telling. We engage these partners at key points during the initial development of a new project, inviting their feedback and input, and then work closely with them to cultivate audiences that are connected to or directly impacted by an aspect of the production. These relationships often extend well beyond the run of a project and often lead to the inspiration for future work. Our goal is that these relationships extend well beyond the run of a project and become inspiration for future work.
The principles of community organizing influence many of our producing practices. This is part of an ongoing investigation into how storytelling can have the most relevance and impact in efforts to create a more just and humane society.
