Ogemdi Ude (she/her) is a Nigerian-American dance artist, educator, and doula based in Harlem, New York and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She currently serves as Head of Movement for Waterwell Drama Program.
Prior to Waterwell, her education/facilitation work began as Community Coordinator for the Public Works initiative at the Public Theater, where she supported communities in making ambitious works of participatory theater. She has also taught at Princeton University and for University of the Arts’ Dance MFA.
As an artist and educator, she supports others in investigating their cultural, familial, and personal histories – how they are embedded in their bodies and influence their everyday and performative movement. She has worked with artists including iele paloumpis, Marion Spencer, Rebecca Lazier, Susan Marshall, Stuart Singer, Aaron Landsman, Melanie Lane, Prue Lang, Raven White/BIRDHOUSE, Urban Bush Women, Oskar Eustis, Laurie Woolery, and Lear deBessonet. Her work has been presented at Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Danspace Project, Gibney, Center for Performance Research, Movement Research at the Judson Church, Streb Lab for Action Mechanics, La Mama Courthouse, and for BAM’s DanceAfrica festival. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in English, Dance, and Theater from Princeton University.
