Kate Diaz began her dance training as a young girl in her local New Jersey studio. She received her BFA in Dance Choreography from Arizona State University where she graduated magna cum laude.  She holds a MA in Dance Education from New York University.  At NYU she was the department awardee for outstanding achievement in dance education.  She has been teaching high school dance in the Bronx, NY for the past nine years.  She is former faculty of Bronx Preparatory Charter School and New Explorers High School for the Arts.

This is her first year with Waterwell/PPAS. In addition to teaching high school dance, Kate has ran Jr. and Sr. competition dance teams at Jump Dance Center in Pelham, NY.  Kate has performed both nationally and internationally and has worked with artists such as The Movement Collective, Deborah Damast and Dancers, and The Next Stage Project.  She continues to choreograph and perform throughout NYC.  Recently she was a contributing author to Studying Dance: A Guide for Campus and Beyond by Karen Schupp.  She believes in dance as a tool for experiencing life and is an advocate for providing dance experiences to all young people.
