The New York theatre awards season started this April with the announcement of nominees for the 2014-2015 Outer Critics Circle Awards, recognizing achievement in both Broadway and Off-Broadway. The Outer Critics Circle nominees are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theatre season.
Waterwell co-founder Tom Ridgely was associate director on The Last Ship, composed by Sting, which received three Outer Critics Circle nominations: Outstanding New Broadway Musical, Outstanding Book of Musical, and Outstanding New Score.
The Last Ship is a portrait of a community so bound together by passion, faith and tradition, they’ll stop at nothing to preserve the only life they’ve ever known. The play featured an original score done by 16-time Grammy Award winner Sting, direction by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Wicked), a book by Tony Award winner John Logan (Red) and Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal), and choreography by Olivier Award winner Steven Hoggett (Once).
